What is the International Ocean Station #IOS? Can you imagine if the global south came up with a new model for #OceanScience, that is de-colonised, community-based, #OpenScience, and provides livelihood by and for #Coastal Communities addressing the #ClimateEmergency with #Nature Based Solutions?
With the coastal community in #LaUnion in the #Philippines, we worked with fisherfolks, indigenous, elders, youth, and the tourist industry to come up with a large-scale architecture model. A vision for the future that we need to nurture with local and global partners.
Built with Emerging Islands at CURMA in La Union, today Nov 21 2023, we officially integrated the permanent collection of the Mind Museum in Manila (the Philippines' largest Science Museum), with the support of the Alliance Francaise and The Indigo Civilization. This is the beginning of a great adventure with the country with the most seafarers in the world, the #Philippines!
